Our staff follows the teaching philosophy of Shu Ha Ri, which loosely translates to Crawl, Walk, Run. Each technique is presented in this manner allowing the student to work on the mechanics of the techniques (Shu phase) before moving on to the flow (Ha phase). The flow allows the student to experience the intended outcome of the technique. The final phase or Ri is the extemporaneous phase or without thought. Once a student reaches this level of their training there is no more techniques, just action.
We offer a variety of training formats from ongoing martial art classes to specialized training for professionals to self protection workshops for everyone. Take a look at what we offer and as always feel free to visit our facility or contact us for more information.
Martial Arts
Children Classes
Ages 4 -10
A complete Martial Arts program designed to provide the students
with a structured curriculum focused on the essence of the Martial
Arts; Respect, Integrity, Honor and Discipline.
We offer a safe and caring environment free of judgment that
encourages advancement and cultivated success.
Our philosophy is simple, we tailor our program to the individual
student, rather than the student to the program. With this philosophy
we can offer an all inclusive system that everyone can participate in.
The classes are age appropriate in content and length. The lessons
are designed to extend outside of the training hall and become part
of their lives.
Look at our class schedule for ages and class times.
Teen Class
Ages 11 - 14
Our teen classes are designed to provide the students with the tools they need to survive in today’s world. Every class focuses on building confidence to make the right choices both in healthy and unhealthy situations. Peer pressure continues throughout a life time and having the confidence to be a leader in today’s world is important. Martial Arts is a life skill for a life time.
Adult Classes
Our adult program utilizes the American Kenpo Karate system as our training model.
In the 1950's, Ed Parker founded what has come to be thought of as a perfect martial arts discipline -- American Kenpo Karate. After half a century Kenpo is the fastest-growing self-defense technique taught in the United States and is continually evolving to have relevance to contemporary lifestyles. American Kenpo Karate also allows the integration and adaptation of various other martial arts styles.
Based on four basic principles of physics; torque, back-up mass, borrowed force, and marriage of gravity, Kenpo allows even the smallest person to achieve maximum effectiveness by employing proper body mechanics.
Kenpo also stresses awareness of environment. To have a clearer perception of one's surroundings is as important as having the tools and options to deploy in specific situations. American Kenpo Karate stresses self-defense.
Kenpo teaches that it is always better to walk away from an adversary than to engage him, however, when walking away is no longer an option, then your training takes over....
Our classes focus on the self-defense aspect of the art. Whether learning and practicing a form, a set or a technique we explore the self-defense aspect within each.
The benefits are:
There are millions of martial arts practitioners all over the world. Men, women and children of all ages and abilities are actively involved in learning how to improve their awareness, health, fitness, confidence and their ability to protect themselves.
The popular perception - learned largely from movies and fictional television dramas is that the martial arts are mainly concerned with violence. This could not be further from the truth. In fact most skilled martial artists are less likely to initiate or become involved in physical aggression preferring instead to remove themselves from a potentially violent situation.
